About Safety Week
Our Mission
National Helmet Safety Week was created to encourage English and Western riders alike to protect themselves with a properly fitting, securely fastened, certified riding helmet. To help make rider safety more affordable, participating helmet brands are offering special discounts throughout the week. It's the perfect time to replace an older helmet or purchase your first one.
Why We Started
National Helmet Safety Week traces its roots to Riders4Helmets, a global safety initiative launched in 2010 following a life-changing riding accident involving Olympian Dressage rider Courtney King-Dye. After suffering a traumatic brain injury while riding without a helmet, her recovery inspired riders, organizations, and helmet manufacturers around the world to come together with a shared goal: encouraging every equestrian to wear a properly fitting, certified riding helmet every time they ride.
What began as a grassroots effort quickly grew into a movement dedicated to rider education, helmet safety, and making protective gear more accessible to equestrians of all ages and disciplines.
